411@NH Weekend/Spring Break Update: March 22, 2013

Because you probably need a laugh after the week you’ve had…

Spring Break is FINALLY HERE at the end of the day- congrats on making it through the week! Hopefully you’re getting a chance to take a break from MIT whether you’re going home, heading to a conference or other academic/work obligations, or going on vacation. If you’re hanging out here, make sure you still take some time to explore life beyond our part of Mass Ave- there’s a lot to do in Boston and Cambridge at the end of March so take advantage of the break in classes and enjoy yourself!

Spring Break Departure Reminders

If you are leaving for the week, here are some quick reminders for you to keep in mind as you pack up and head out to your destination:

  • Make sure you take your passport and any other travel documents that you need for your trip with you and keep them with you at all times- this is especially important if you’re an international student and are heading home for the week.
  • Make sure to take your keys and MIT ID with you when you leave so you can enter the building upon your return.
  • Take all of the trash out of your room and drop it off in the trash closet.
  • Turn off your lights and any appliances or electronics in the room- this is especially important for alarm clocks or anything that could make noise while you’re away.
  • Store any perishable food in your house kitchens and make sure all dishes are clean.
  • Make sure that your doors are locked and that your windows are all closed.

If you are going to be here for break and on a meal plan, please be aware that Next, Simmons, McCormick and Baker Dining are all closed after dinner on Friday. Maseeh will be open for dinner Saturday-Saturday from 5PM to 9 PM. All dining locations will reopen on Sunday, 3/31, for Brunch.

  • New House is proud to announce the opening of the New House Maker Space (officially open Sunday, March 24th), a place for New House residents to build, learn, and develop their academic or personal projects a little closer to home. The NH Maker Space will be located in the NH Bike Room, in the corridor between New House and MacGregor, allowing NH Residents 24/7 access to the space.  For a list of supplies, click here:  NH Maker Space Supplies. All equipment except Basic Prototyping Supplies will be available for check-out through New House Front Desk. Basic Prototyping Supplies will be permanently located in the NH Maker Space and replenished as needed. If you have any additional tool, equipment, or material requests, please send them to the NH Maker Space Manager Netia McCray (m_0517@mit.edu).
